Happy Birthday Greta

Our Baby is Two!
She had a great birthday party BBQ with her family, complete with homemade ice cream and fireworks.
I discovered a new bonus for having a Pioneer Day birthday, all the 4th of July clothes are on clearance by then!

She loved opening presents, her cousins were a bit impatient and tried to help, but we kept them away so she could do it herself. She is very independent and stubborn. I wonder where she gets that from?!?

Here are a few Greta shots from the past few months.
She has such a cheesy, toothy smile, and loves to "Say Cheese" whenever a camera is pointed at her.
She loves these glasses, whenever she puts them on she says "I'm a rock star!"
She still doesn't have much hair, but what she does have is pretty crazy! She woke up one afternoon from her nap with this hairdo. She is rocking a pretty good girl mullet right now, I can't wait for hair to start growing on the front of her head. At least now the hair in back is long enough to put into "Pig Tonies", it probably looks silly but it is much better then the mullet.
She eats really well, here she is digging into some ribs. (This hat was her favorite accessory for a few weeks this spring, she has a few cute girly hats but would not wear them.)
We really need to get serious about potty training, she is ready, and loves to sit on "my own potty". And as you all know you must read while on the potty. She loves to read books, and memorizes her favorite ones then 'reads' them to herself, and us.
 Her bowl hat phase
 "Ta-Da"
This summer we got a small above ground pool, Holden and Greta have a great time in it, as long as Greta is in her froggy.
These past two years have gone by so fast. I can't believe it was two years ago that we were causing a parade down our street.
Happy Birthday sweetie!

Big Trucks

This past week we went to the Kennecott Copper mine.
The mine was offering free admission all week, so it was pretty busy there. Instead of driving our car up to the visitor's center, they had us park at the base of the former mountain and ride a tour bus up to the visitor's center. I am pretty sure that was the kids favorite part of the whole day.
Here are the Burkhart grandkids in front of a BIG wheel! What cuties. Holden was a little disapointed that we did not get to see a BIG truck up close, like the airplanes we saw last week.
Holden looking down into the pit, it is pretty impressive. The Big trucks look tiny when they are down there.
We have determined that the little girl's favorite part of field trip day is exchanging snacks. The grass is always greener. this week was pretty funny because we each brought a different version of cheese crackers, and the other cousin's were much better then theirs.
On the drive home we saw this sign.

Aerospace Museum

Guess where we went next?!
We got to see a bunch of really cool airplanes and fighter jets.

This was Holden's favorite plane, it was green and looked like a shark!
Here is an arial view, they had so many planes in this building it is hard to tell where one ends and the next begins. The big green one is a bomber, Holden was not happy that I made him go underneath it to see inside the bomb hatch.
We went on a Friday because they advertised that they have a NASA presentation one Friday each month. The presentation was by a guy who collects NASA stuff. He did know a lot about each of the rockets and shuttles. The highlight of the presentation for the kids was when he showed a video of them eating M&Ms in space.
We also got to see a B56 bomber, like the model that Holden got at Pearl Harbor. Holden was very excited about that.

Dinosaurs, dinosaurs, dinosaurs!!!

It is so cool to live in Utah, especially if you love dinosaurs, there are so many dinosaur museums, this week we went to this one in Ogden.
They have to coolest moving dinosaurs, here is the T-Rex,
And here is the mama Triceratops with her baby. Holden and Cyrus tried to be brave but wouldn't get too close, so I don't have any pictures of them with the moving dinosaurs.
Our future paleontologists digging up dinosaur bones
Holden chillin with Blythe
I love this picture, Greta seems a little concerned about the huge dinosaur about to eat them, and Blythe looks like she is going to feed it some of her crackers!
Holden, Ryn, and Cyrus don't seem as concerned about it.
They have a really fun playground complete with Pterodactyl slide that the kids loved. Greta loved going up the steps then patting everyone on the back as they went down, I think we only got her to go down the slide once.
What cute little girls riding a pink dinosaur.
A cute picture Holden took of Greta and Cyrus.
At every field trip so far Greta and Blythe have fought over who got to ride in the stroller, because until this week only one of us has remembered to bring a stroller. So this week Both Jackie and I remember our strollers and this is what happens!
It was a great day, the weather even cooperated with us, and stayed overcast and sprinkled on us a few times. If we lived closer to this park I would be there all the time. It was a great place to let the kids run wild and learn a little more about dinosaurs!
